BLFC man, what a con!
(massive) recap and ramblings after the break
It was amazing and I really loved their theme. They had a whole dystopian future thing going on, huge propaganda posters were everywhere, announcements over the PA every half hour or so, fake surveillance cameras everywhere, fitting badges, fursuiters had barcode collars, posters telling you to eat your mandatory rations, etc. Now sometime around late Friday, early Saturday, people started to rebel against the system, vandalizing the propaganda posters, some people were handing out rebel fliers, painting the V for Vendetta sign onto posters, etc. And a lot of attendees started doing it, too. The official room party was two parties combined, one room was all clean and big brother approved and the other one was lit by blacklight, which revealed secret plans and hit lists of the rebels all over the wall. By Sunday morning every piece of propaganda was vandalized or straight up gone.
Just after arriving on Thursday night my friend and I ran into one of our fave artists, Carrot (trigger warning: feral non-pony porn), by complete chance, and from then on out we all hung out together a lot. And I got the chance to commission him to draw me this super cute female rat. <3
I met a lot of amazing people, saw some friendly faces again, had the chance to hang out with friends, ate great food for super cheap, gambled (a con in a casino is the best idea ever, paying for commissions/merch with chips is awesome), played super smash brothers, got rained on while playing miniature golf, attended a cool art panel about fluids and bubbly cum, got drunk and danced and just in general had a wonderful time. It was awesome just sitting around a table with great people, talking and drawing and stuff. The con space was really great in that way, there was so much room for people to just hang out, a lot of big round tables and chairs, the vendor’s hall was also huge, with a big empty space in the middle for people to hang out while all the vendors were arranged at the sides of the hall. A way better setup than the usual cramped aisles, in my eyes. But not every convention has such abundant space, of course.
We also met the co-founder of Bad Dragon and creator of e621, Varka, who was really fun to hang out with and shared some great dildo and/or cumlube related stories. He showed us the next big thing he and a bunch of other people are working on, it looks amazing and I’m super stoked for it, it looks like it has the potential to make my life easier by a lot. I can’t wait.
And then there was this time where I hugged a cute bunny-squirrel fursuit, aaaah it was so soft. I’ve turned into such a furfag. The owner of said fursuit also drew me some awesome cute rats!
I can’t believe how lucky I got, I’m a pretty antisocial/introvert guy and here I run into those great people by complete chance and hang out the whole weekend with them.
I also had the chance to draw some traditional stuff and I’m motivated to try more traditional art in the future and I want to draw some non-pony feral stuff really badly now, haha.
Huge thanks for the great time to everyone I met. And thanks for letting me use your art supplies and cintiq, surgicalarts!
And now onwards to draw lots of pony, I have so many pictures in the pipeline!
