Oh god, that turned out super long, so after the break.
1) Daww, she hugged me while she was naked, so thanks for this question!
2) I did before, once! As a birthday present for kevinsano, it should be somewhere on Derpibooru. I do plan on doing something like that again in the future, so keep your eyes open! I’ll probably post it directly to Derpibooru or so, though, because tumblr.
3) I saw people posting screencaps of cute colorful four legged creatures on 4chan, just a few weeks after the very first episode aired. I didn’t know it was from My Little Pony for a while (or even that those creatures were supposed to be horses), but I did enjoy the pictures and saved quite a few cute reaction images. A few weeks later I saw a link to the leaked Winter Wrap Up song, I instantly fell in love with it. But it wasn’t until Fall Weather Friends that I’ve actually started watching the show.. I was bored one day, remembered the cute Winter Wrap Up song, watched Episode 1 of the show and then binge-watched it until there were no more episodes left. This following Saturday Fall Weather Friends aired. And since then I haven’t missed an episode. A few weeks after that I’ve drawn my first pony and the rest is history.
4) I do like the cutiemark crusaders, and I’d definitely draw them aged up! I hope they get their cutie marks soon tho, I’d hate to make something up and then be completely wrong. Also yes, Chrysalis is a cutie! There’s something inside of me that loves those creepy, uber animal predators and powerful species. I think Xenomorphs, Tyranids, Zerg or Raptors (and Yuuzhan-Vong to an extent, but they’re not really animalish) are hot, for example. Can’t really explain it, and it’s not a strong feeling, but I always had a strange fascination with creatures like that.
5) Just some few completely random stories that pop in my head at midnight while I’m writing this, I’m not sure any of them qualify as ‘crazy life stories’, but here goes:
- One day, when I was a kid, I was on a cruiseship on a big lake in Switzerland, and this sea gull came swooping down and stole my favorite hat from my head. According to my mom I cried the whole day.
That’s the only interesting thing that’s happened to me since. - The whole story about how I met my wife is pretty crazy, I liked an Appledash clopfic she wrote, so I drew fanart for that story. Unbeknownst to me, she was a huge fan of my art and a long time deviant watcher of mine, she really liked the fact that I drew fanart for her story, so we started talking and half a year later we met up halfway across the globe at Bronycon. A little bit over a year after that I moved to the other side of the world and married her. It’s going to be fun explaining that one to our future kids.
- I met Penn & Teller, twice. That was awesome, and they’re big idols of mine. Go watch all of Bullshit! It’s great.
- As a kid, I got to meet David Hasselhoff and sat inside one of the KITTs they used for filming, it spoke and everything. I was scared absolutely shitless by sitting in a talking car, even tho I loved the tv show.
- I’ve played poker semi-professionally for two years or so a long time ago. Mostly cashgame, but I also placed high in a few tournaments. It was crazy, super interesting but way too much learning and rage quitting involved.
- As a teen, my group of friends and I used to play ding-dong-ditch on this one kid’s house on our street. One time it was my turn to ring the bell, it was in the middle of the winter in Switzerland, snow everywhere, etc. So this kid’s mother was standing right behind the door, just waiting for one of us to show up and ring the bell and run away. So I rang the bell, she opened the door and dumped a bucket filled with ice cold water on me before I had a chance to ran. I went home to warm up and dry off, my mom asked what happened, so I told her. She got mad at me for playing pranks on people, but she got even madder at that lady for dumping water on her son in below freezing temperatures. So she stomped over there, dragged me with her and yelled at this woman for half an hour and forced her to apologize to me. Shit was crazy.
- Literally the only day it rained here in 2013 was on my wedding day during the outdoor ceremony at the Golden Gate bridge. As soon as we finished evacuating the premises to the indoor reception area a couple of miles away the rain stopped.
- As an end-of-high-school-trip our class and our two main teachers took the train to Amsterdam and we then sailed a sailing ship across the coast of the Netherlands for a week. Casting anchor and partying in a different town or city every night, or swimming in the ocean next to the ship during the day, etc. It was amazing. And it was great actually helping out with sailing the ship, moving the sails, etc.
- During a huge (2k+ people) LAN party in the early 2000s in deep snowfall, a couple of friends and I made a makeshift barbecue out of a shopping cart and had a BBQ in the parking lot in front of the event hall at 2AM in the night in heavy snow. I think I still have pictures of that night somewhere. It was very memorable. Also, LAN parties in general were pretty crazy! How different times are nowadays.
- I ate garlic ice cream two days ago. Garlic. Ice cream. Crazy.
- I was 24 on my first flight in an airplane. It was a 90 minute flight to Germany, to celebrate New Years Eve with a couple of online friends, meeting them for the first time in real life, including my best friend. She’s more than family to me and we have been through so much stuff together. I wouldn’t be the same person if it weren’t for her. She flew to California to be the best woman at my wedding. I’ve never had a good relationship with my family, no siblings in the picture and besides my Mom all of my other family members are very cold and distant. So being able to form such a close bond that resembles family with someone and being able to share stuff with someone helped me through a lot of things. It’s crazy, I’ve met pretty much 95% of all of the people who are important to me over the internet. And people say internet friendships are fake.
- On the same day I discovered that I absolutely love tomato juice, since it was served on the airplane. I drink it all the time now.
- Horse meat is my favorite kind of meat, and I miss it dearly, not being able to eat it here in the US. I was super confused when I learned that eating horse is a taboo in most of the western world, since it was normal where I was raised.
I’m getting tired, so I’ll stop answering this question now. I think I’ve shared more personal things than I ever have in public, haha. Hope y’all like wall of texts :P
6) Sadly I don’t. I should learn it, tho. My wife keeps suggesting it. I picked up a few things here and there from being around her family, but I’m only capable of understanding basic things, speaking not at all. I’ve been drawing for almost exactly 4 years now, it took me a long time to get to the style I have now, and I think my style is still changing and evolving and all over the place, haha. This is one of my first pony drawings, done on September 4th 2011:
I’ll continue with about 7 more questions in another post!
