Rat's Saucy Nest

Guess what I’ve been playing? Undertale! I had to take a small break from working on poni and draw something from the game. Disclaimer: Temmie of course are 18+, as evident by their access to higher education, namely college!

I was kinda influenced by a couple of Carrot’s pieces for this picture. I think it shows, haha.

I saw how the game exploded all over tumblr and the internet in general, but I didn’t really think I would enjoy it too much from the screenshots and stuff that I saw. Until a friend of mine bought the game for me and kinda forced me to give it a try. I instantly fell in love with it. It’s absolutely charming. The characters are all loveable and great, the writing is incredible, the ‘battle’ system is super interesting and each monster is different to interact with, the music is breathtaking and the humor really resonates with me. I still laugh about some of the jokes now, hours and even days later. And the game is pretty deep, I really like the story and all the details and there’s so much stuff going on and hidden and everything. The world is very fleshed out. Anyways, enough gushing for now!

If you haven’t played it, there’s this race of Monsters, called Temmie, and they’re basically the love child of a hyperactive, constantly vibrating tiny dog and a super excited, grammatically challenged cat. They’re adorable and insane and I just had to draw one of them, their shop keeper with a college degree (which I provided the money for, because I love Temmie) You only ever really see their sprites, so I had to improvise a bit with the design. I hope it turned out okay! I wanted to emulate the limited palette feeling the game has, too.

Anyways, thanks to everyone in the stream for watching me draw her and for watching me play Undertale! It was quite a ride that I won’t forget for a long time. I’ll probably play a genocide playthrough sometime soonish on twitch, since people seemed interested in watching me play through neutral/true pacifist!

Don’t worry, regularly scheduled poni will return soon. I’m working hard on a pony comic right now that should be released in about two weeks! It’s going to be huge!
