Oooh, that’s a good question. One I’ve asked myself a couple of times. I don’t know for sure, actually. I came in contact with Pony-R34 even before I started watching the show and became part of the fandom, back in very early 2011. I kinda liked it, because I really liked the colorful characters. When I started watching the show one or two weeks later, I instantly fell in love with most of the characters. And due to that, I began appreciating the fanart even more, not only the SFW stuff but also the porn.

I’d say a big part of why I like it, are the personalities. For example I don’t appreciate content as much if I don’t know the character, because it’s an unknown OC or a canon pony I have no headcanon for.

Another big part is that Ponies are just cute and colorful and that makes a nice and interesting contrast in a NSFW picture. Also them plots.

Since ponyporn was something I liked from the beginning, I started to draw saucy/suggestive stuff very early on, but there was this line into pure NSFW territory I didn’t want to cross because of stupid insecure personal reasons. Even though I really wanted to try it. Sometime later I finally realized I shouldn’t care that much about possible negative backlash and just draw what I want to draw. So I drew some porn. I liked it. Other people seemed to like it, I continued and now we’re here. I actually thought that I’m going to get a lot of flak or hate for drawing ponyporn, but truth is, the community has been very nice to me and even some  close friends know what I draw and they accept and tolerate it. :)

Sometimes I kinda wish I was able to draw really cute and adorable stuff, because I love such fanart. A lot. But my mind’s full of shipping and smut, so yeah! In the end I’m quite happy with how my “career” as an artist in this fandom has progressed thus far.

Yeah, I can totally see where you’re coming from. It’s just that I kinda started to appreciate AJ as also being the submissive one. So I kinda like the idea of interplay. But I agree, Dashie just works so incredibly well being submissive.

Dash is one of the few characters I can ship with almost everybody in my head. (Even though Appledash is OTP for me.)

PinkieDash is super cute and very fun, I guess that’s a ship that would work very well in real life, they’re both crazy and active and I think they support each other well enough for a stable, fun and serious relationship. And I can totally see how they would push each others boundaries and stuff.

TwiDash… I didn’t see the appeal for a very long time, but the one episode where Dash started reading was pretty cute and kinda had some TwiDash moments. Not my favorite ship, but some of the fanart is just amazingly adorable, sexy and cute. *coughSmittycough*

RarityDash, thanks to one or two fics I really enjoyed.. well, yeah. I kinda like it. In a sexual way. I don’t think they have huge romantic chemistry though, but sexually? Hell yes. Dash works as fine as a sub, as Rarity does as a dom.

FlutterDash, eh, it’s pretty cute I guess. Dash being the strong arm for Flutters, helping her out of her shell and everything, I can see it work, and it’s pretty adorable, but in my headcanon Flutters and Dash are best (childhood)friends and see each other more as sisters, so no romantic nor sexual relationship at all.
